From the First Letter of St. Peter:
Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God’s sight, and like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood. . .You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
- 1 Peter 2:4-5, 9
The faithful are the Body of Christ, God’s temple in the world. Jesus is the cornerstone, the foundation. We each are stones built on Christ to take part in God’s ongoing work of redemption and healing. It is the ministry, quickened by the Holy Spirit, that makes us living stones. It is our calling to be God’s people of encouragement, hope, and joy as we participate in God’s healing and renewal of the world. This blog is a reflection on that ministry in the many different ways we carry it out!
